At the time of registration, the parent, guardian, or other person having lawful control of the student under order of a court must present proof of residency in the District as required by law.

The parent/guardian will provide two documents from the following:

• Utility bill:
  • Electric
  • Gas
  • Water
• Mortgage/deed
• Lease agreement with landlord contact
• Closing statement on home

In accordance with law, the District may make reasonable inquiries to determine whether the student is a resident of the District. Based on an individual’s circumstance, the District may grant exceptions to the requirement to produce a document listed above. When required by law, the District will waive the requirement to prove residency in the District boundaries.

How do I know if my child qualifies to attend?

How old does my child have to be?

Pre-K applicants must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026. 3 year old CES Head Start applicants must be 4 years old by December 31, 2026.

Is it free?

The program is free for children that qualify and if spots are not filled by a student who qualifies for Pre-K, your child may attend classes all day at the monthly rate of $444.00.

Is the program all day or half day?

Both Head Start and Pre-K are all day.

Does my child qualify for Pre-K if they have a disability?

No, having a disability does not qualify a child for Pre-K; however, they may possibly qualify for Head Start.

Can my child ride the bus?

Yes, if they live in the District and are not in the 3 year old Head Start Program. 3 year olds will require alternative transportation.

Is there lunch provided?

Students that meet certain criteria through the Free and Reduced Lunch Program can receive free lunch or lunch at a reduced rate.
