Cumby nominated for Sterling Shining Star

The Sterling National Financial Group announced Donny Cumby Sr., lead custodian at
Brownsboro Junior High, has been nominated for its Sterling Shining Star award.

The Sterling National Financial Group awards educators based on their ability to make a
significant impact in their students'; lives with a proven record of excellent professional
performance.

Any full-time staff member at a public school can win the award, which entails $10,000
for the staff member and his or her school.

Cumby was nominated by BISD staff member, Tess Bynum.

Cumby’s official nomination application read: “Donny is a pleasure to work with. He is
very knowledgeable, and made my training process a great experience. His work shows that he
is here at BJHS for the children, as well as his salary; quite possibly in that order. By working
with him , I feel like I've been taught by one of our districts finest. He is a polite gentleman, and
is quick to assist me when I need him. It will be so great to put a big smile on his face by
honoring him with the Sterling Shining Star award.”
